Henry Ford built an empire that reaches clear around the world and affects everyone. In 1922, Mr. Ford bought Lincoln Motor Company to produce larger, upscale vehicles to compete with Mr. Durant's new Cadillac Division. By 1938, Edsel Ford, successor to Henry Ford, felt they needed a mid priced vehicle to fit between the economical Ford brand and the luxury Lincoln line and created the Mercury division. After the boom years following WWII, the "pony" car series began in 1964 with the Mustang. The 21st century carries on the Mustang and a really sharp, powerful line of SUV's & trucks.
